Our pigeon hunting fields are located 30 minutes from Cordoba and two hours from our lodge La Macarena. Pigeon hunting requires a certain degree of patience since these birds are very unpredictable. Some days they come into the fields first thing in the morning and on others days, in the early afternoon. Due to the variables involved in this type of hunt, the guide may opt to stop at midmorning for an Argentine-style barbeque or sandwiches are brought to the hunters for lunch and the more elaborate barbeque takes place at the end of the hunt.

The hunt is conducted using motion decoys, shell decoys, and harvested birds used as ground decoys, which is a key technique used in this type of hunt. Pigeons breed once or twice a year, much less than doves. It’s best to wear camouflage or olive drab clothing and remain well concealed.  Pigeon hunting does not require much physical demand; anyone can participate in this hunt. The experience is exhilarating and many hunters compare this type of hunting to a duck hunt.

There are two possible options to each group of hunters.  Those who want to combine pigeon with dove hunting, leave early in the morning to the hunting field, and return to the lodge in the early evening. For those groups who wish to hunt two days of pigeon only, leave in the morning and in the evening, stay in a comfortable hotel within the hunting area.

La Macarena Lodge

La Macarena lodge is located northeast of Cordoba and one and a half hours from the airport. It is strategically situated in the middle of three immense dove roosting areas which practically guarantees a memorable hunt. The lodge has nine double occupancy rooms each with private bathrooms and air-conditioning and heating. The lodge is equipped with satellite television in the living room area, an outdoor swimming pool, and a covered barbeque pit where one can enjoy some delicious Argentine “asados”. Additional services available to the hunter include a masseuse, laundry service, and filming of your hunt. Due to its proximity to the city of Cordoba, one can add a tour of the city to their hunt.
